The first one is B because it says like a man who has mislaid and thats an abstract way of saying that the man mistook the hat for someone else because abstract nouns can't be specified/experienced using our five sences.
2) querulous means complaining/impatient which is a negative thing cause you give everything time and without patience if you rush a test you might get everything wrong.
