Checks and balances help balance the U.S. government power (the three branches). Each branch's powers are kept in check by the powers given to the other two branches.

Women did not have the right to vote, and women were finally speaking up in a formal setting of this unfairness. The convention did not just address the right to vote, but many other matters of civil and social issues for women.</span>
