I'm thinking that it's C. they both can and can't be revealed. the region cant be revealed in modern times because every country uses the same equipment for art, but in old times they could. A wouldnt be revealed depending on the artist. For example, Pablo Picasso's art is well known, and will be realized immediately if the person knows them.

It can't be the meaning of the work of art because you know what the painting is by looking at it- literally

it can't be D because even if there wasnt a style for every generation, the paint itself would get dry and look like the mona lisa for example
