The question is incomplete, here is the complete question.

Read the excerpt from "The Monkey's Paw."

But her husband was on his hands and knees groping wildly on the floor in search of the paw. If he could only find it before the thing outside got in. A perfect fusillade of knocks reverberated through the house, and he heard the scraping of a chair as his wife put it down in the passage against the door. He heard the creaking of the bolt as it came slowly back, and at the same moment he found the monkey's paw, and frantically breathed his third and last wish.

The knocking ceased suddenly, although the echoes of it were still in the house. He heard the chair drawn back, and the door opened. A cold wind rushed up the staircase, and a long loud wail of disappointment and misery from his wife gave him courage to run down to her side, and then to the gate beyond. The street lamp flickering opposite shone on a quiet and deserted road.

How does Mrs. White's reaction compare to that of Mr. White after the third wish has been granted?

Answer:

Mrs White was heartbroken and Mr White was relieved.

Explanation:

Mr and Mrs white has only one son called Hebert, he was involved in an accident in his workplace that claimed his life. Shortly before Hebert's death a family friend, Sergeant Major Morris came visiting and then gave Mr White a monkey paw, he claimed that they had magical powers. After Major Morris departure Mr White wished for two hundred pounds but nothing seemed to happen. It was the following day that the couple were informed about the death of their only son, they were both devastated. Mrs white then ordered her husband to wish her son back to life, Mr White made the second wish but series of strange things began to happen, suddenly a knock was heard on the door Mrs white rushed down to see if her son had returned back but Mr White was scared of what he had wished for so he searched for the paw and made the third wish and then the strange sounds ceased. Mrs white opened the door to see an empty street rather than her son, she was heartbroken while Mr White was relieved.

How many school text book that i can buy with 5 billion? (this is my civics homework)
Gekata [30.6K]
In order to calculate an accurate answer, we would really need to know the cost
of the textbooks. We don't know that, and they're not even all the same.

There's a good reason that you were given this question is Civics class, and
before I work on it for you, I want you to promise that you'll go to your teacher
on your way out of class someday soon, and tell your teacher that the guy who
helped you answer this question knows how the teacher feels, and that guy
feels the same way.

Ok. In order to give you a feeling for the answer, let's try to come up with a
cost that might be a reasonably close figure to use for text books in general.
Now, I know that things have gone completely out of sight since I was in school,
so I'm going to try hard to go high with my numbers. Let's say that the smallest
textbook costs $20, and the biggest one costs $60, and let's use $40 as an
estimate for the average cost of every new textbook.

If that's true, then the number of text books that I could buy with $5 billion
would be

(5,000,000,000) / (40) = 125 million textbooks ! ! !

If the federal government would spend $5 billion on textbooks, there
would hardly be a high school student anywhere in the USA who didn't
have at least one brand new, up-to-date textbook.

And I can promise you that the book publishers would love it too.

What feature of prose shares the same purpose as a stanza of poetry?
Basile [38]

There are no answer choices so I can't be sure exactly what you're looking for, but I'd say paragraph.

A stanza is a group of lines forming the basic recurring metrical unit in a poem, used to separate topics and build a piece of poetry neatly. A paragraph is a distinct section of a piece of writing, usually dealing with a single theme and indicated by a new line, indentation, or numbering. Paragraphs separate thoughts and topics and are a building block for an essay or prose.

Hope this helps! Work hard!!
