The events happened in this order;

First, Shere Khan tricks Akela into a bad kill, then boldly speaks against Mowgli at the council, but when Mowgli holds up the sacred Red Flower, The tables are <em>turned!  </em>Shere Khan cowers away from the flower, then runs away.
