English

Answer:

Fourteen lines: All sonnets have 14 lines, which can be broken down into four sections called quatrains.

A strict rhyme scheme: The rhyme scheme of a Shakespearean sonnet, for example, is ABAB / CDCD / EFEF / GG (note the four distinct sections in the rhyme scheme).

Written in iambic pentameter: Sonnets are written in iambic pentameter, a poetic meter with 10 beats per line made up of alternating unstressed and stressed syllables.

A sonnet can be broken into four sections called quatrains. The first three quatrains contain four lines each and use an alternating rhyme scheme. The final quatrain consists of just two lines, which both rhyme. Each quatrain should progress the poem as follows:

First quatrain: This should establish the subject of the sonnet.Number of lines: four; rhyme scheme: ABAB

Second quatrain: This should develop the sonnet’s theme.Number of lines: four; rhyme scheme: CDCD

Third quatrain: This should round off the sonnet’s theme.Number of lines: four; rhyme scheme: EFEF

Fourth quatrain: This should act as a conclusion to the sonnet.Number of lines: two; rhyme scheme: GG

Changes around us cause us to act differently. Some people don't act well around changes and others do. I personally don't act well around changes. Different causes and affects can make people act different. For example moving is a change and some people will act happy and positive where as others would be sad or angry.

Sloan [31]

Answer:

b. Some of the Igbo’s traditions and beliefs are working against them.

Explanation:

Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart," tells the story of Okonkwo and his struggle to come to terms with not only his personal conflict of what a man must be but also at the same time dealing with the changes in his African community. This change is the entry of White Christian missionaries in his village, while he along with the villagers still clung to the traditional practices and beliefs.

In the given excerpt from the text, we see that Okonkwo and the villagers who opposed the presence of the white Christian missionaries felt that since they were encroaching in their space, they would have died. But to their surprise, they were still alive. Added to that, they were even helped by some villagers to build a new house and even got new converts. This shows that they believe some of their own Igbo traditions and beliefs are working against them, which they think is evident from the survival of the white men and the acquiring of help from the Igbo people.

Thus, the correct answer is option b.

In about 150 words, show what you understand about the complex traditions of the Igbo clans.
Taya2010 [7]
The birth of twins is considered an evil omen so the twins are placed in earthen pots and left to die in the evil forest. This is a complex tradition that Okonkwo's son Nwoye has trouble understanding. Another tradition that is complex is the involvement of the Oracles or the Earth Goddess in the affairs of the tribal clans. The earth is worshipped and the Earth Goddess Ani has the authority to banish Okonkwo when his gun accidentally explodes and kills the son of an elder during that elder's funeral. Okonkwo is exiled for seven years. These traditions, though hard to understand in todays world, were back then considered normal by the people of the Igbo Clans
