Let's write the equation in standard from

y = mx + b

Where,

  • m is slope or rate of change
  • b is the y-intercept or initial value

<h3>Let's start by finding slope⤵️</h3>

\boxed{ \sf \: m =  \frac{ y_{2} -  y_{1} }{ x_{2} -  x_{1}}}

  • x1, y1 = 0,12
  • x2, y2 = 1,13

\tt \: m =  \frac{13 - 12}{1 - 0}

\tt \: m =  \frac{1}{1}

\tt \: m = 1

  • b = 12

<h3>Equation⤵️</h3>

\sf \: y = 1x + 12

Solution:

<u>Step-1: Create a coordinate plane.</u>

  • <em>Graph attached~</em>

<u>Step-2: Plot the points on the graph.</u>

  • <em>Points have been plotted on the graph.</em>

<u>Step-3: Choose any two points on the graph.</u>

  • <em>My chosen points are (2,14) and (3,15).</em>

<u>Step-4: Find the slope of the line by using y₂ - y₁/x₂ - x₁.</u>

  • => 15 - 14/3 - 2
  • => 1/1
  • => Slope = 1

<u>Step-5: Find the y-intercept.</u>

  • We are given a point (0,12), where 0 is the x-coordinate. Since it is 0, 12 is the y-intercept.

<u>Step-6: Revise the equation created.</u>

  • y = mx + b (m = slope; b = y-intercept)
  • => y = (1)x + 12
  • => y = x + 12

Use matrices to write the equation of the function in the form y = mx + b that contains the points
Fofino [41]

The line has a slope of -6 and a y intercept of 7.

The linear equation is given by:

y = mx + b;

where m is the slope of the line, b is the y intercept, y, x are variables.

The equation of the line passing through the points (6.-29) and (-4,31) is:

y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}(x-x_1)\\\\y-(-29)=\frac{31-(-29)}{-4-6}(x-6)\\\\y+29=-6(x-6)\\\\y=-6x+7

Hence the line has a slope of -6 and a y intercept of 7.

The bottom two questions that correspond to the word problem... I don't get it
lisov135 [29]
So basically, the first question after the word problem is asking you to write an equation to represent the value of Mama's car after a certain amount of years (t). Since the value of her car decreases by 3% each year, you could multiply 3% by the original value of her car, to find what 3% is, OR you could subtract 19,400 (the value of her car after 1 year) from 20,000 INSTEAD of multiplying 20,000 by 3%.

Equation:  value=20,000 - 600t

To answer the next question, just plug it into the equation you created.

500<20,000 - 600t

-19500< -600t

32.5>t
Final Answer: It would take at least 32 and 1/2 years for the value of Mama's car to be less than $500.

Hope this helps!! :)
