Differences between the alimentary canal of.a bird and a mammal

The alimentary canal is a long tube-like organ that starts at the beak and ends with the vent or cloaca in the abdominal region.

 1. Generally the alimentary canal has layers of muscle that run lengthwise and around it and is lined with mucous.

1.

BIRD - Presence of tongue in mouth

GRASSHOPPER - Tongue is absent

2.

BIRD - Mouth is modified into beak

GRASSHOPPER - Mouth is modified into mandible and maxillae for chewing and grinding

3.

BIRD - Presence of pancreas and duodernum

GRASSHOPPER - Absence of duodernum and pancreas

4.

BIRD - Has long alimentary canal

GRASSHOPPER - Relatively short alimentary canal

5.

BIRD - Hind gut ends in cloaca

GRASSHOPPER - Hindgut ends in anus distinct from the reproductive tract.

The similarities include the following:

 1. Both have narrow oesphagus
 2. Crop is present in both organisms
 3. Caecum and gizzard is present in both
 4. Midgut is present.

The statement " force equals mass times acceleration " is Newton's second law of motion. Why is this a law rather than a theory?
tamaranim1 [39]

This is a law because the math behind it is simple and makes sense – is scientifically proven and developed and is designed to be used. If double the force, you have double acceleration, double the mass, you get half the acceleration. A theory is an opinion or an idea, this is a law because it is sound and the only law for this theme, it stands true for every scenario.

a...it is a fixed equation that is true for every scenario...

Most cells that experience mutations or damage _________. Select one: a. become cancer b. undergo apoptosis c. become a malignan
ANTONII [103]
A. Become cancer because in the process of mitosis (cell replication) idlf the cell replication does not work properly and keep going on and on it will begin creating mutations to help it replicate causing cancer to happen.
Ex: let's say you have a paper cut. Your blood cells must replicate in order to close that gap in your body. They begin replication but if they get out of control and begin creating mutations it will turn into cancer.

Part b - comparing eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells two fundamental types of cells are known to exist in nature: prokaryotic cel
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer;

 • Prokaryotic only: nucleoid
 • Eukaryotic only: nucleolus, lysosome, mitochondria
 • Both: plasma membrane, ribosomes, flagelia

Explanation;

 • Prokaryotic cells are those cells that lack nucleus and other membrane bound organelles, unlike eukaryotic cells which contain a membrane bound nucleus and membrane bound organelles such as mitochondria, and lysosomes.
 • Prokaryotic cells lack the nucleus and nucleolus, but instead contain a nucleoid which contains the genetic materials of the cell.
 • Eukaryotic cells on the other hand contain a well defined nucleus, that contains nucleolus and highly complex genetic material.
 • Despite the differences, they both share a number of organelles and characteristics such as plasma membrane, which regulates the movement of substances in and out of the cells, ribosomes, sites for protein synthesis, and also flagella, for locomotion.
