The cause of the conflict was that the animals fall short of food,  they work despite that and they had to hide it from the human farmers around them, lest they say that the Animal Farm be is said to be failing.

The outcome was that they finally solve the issue by finding out new ways to raise and then drop big stones into the quarry, though the act of smashing them into usable chunks.

An example of 'Character vs. Society' is when Napoleon makes a policy in opposition to Animalism trading with the 'enemy'.
