The first two paragraphs have a chaotic feel to them. In order to convey the sense of chaos that is overwhelming Cairo, she employs a vocabulary of violence. Coughing and choking, burns, scattered fires, burn and fizz, tear gas, carrier on fire, beating, wildly, ball of fire, and pool of flame are some of the words she uses to alter the tone of her voice.
