The numbers of pears and apples bought are 16 and 20 respectively

let

x = number of pears

y = number of apples

He bought 4 more apples than pears. Therefore,

  • y = x + 4

He bought a number of pears and apples and paid $128 for them. Therefore,

  • 3x + 4y = 128
<h3>System of equation:</h3>

y - x = 4

4y + 3x = 128

Therefore,

3y - 3x = 12

4y + 3x = 128

7y = 140

y = 140 / 7

y = 20

Therefore,

20 = x + 4

x = 20 - 4

x = 16

It would take Marco 6 hours to paint a fence by himself. It would take Jaylyn 5 hours to paint the same fence by herself. Marco
Lyrx [107]

<u>Answer</u>

Time taken to paint the fence by Marco  and Jaylyn is 2.72 hours

Heading can be given to this is work per hour

<u>Explanation</u>

Macro 6 hours to paint fence by himself

Therefore his 1 hour work = 1/6

Jaylyn 5 hours to paint the same fence by herself

Therefore 1 hour work of  Jaylyn  = 1/5

Together 1 hour work = 1/6 + 1/5 = 11/30

Therefore time taken to paint the fence together by them = 30/11 = 2.72 hours

What is the slope of the line that passes through the points (4.2) and (-16, -10)?
sergij07 [2.7K]

Given:

A line passes through the points (4,2) and (-16, -10).

To find:

The slope of the line.

Solution:

Slope Formula:

m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

A line passes through the points (4,2) and (-16, -10). So, slope of the line is

m=\dfrac{-10-2}{-16-4}

m=\dfrac{-12}{-20}

m=\dfrac{3}{5}

Therefore, the slope of the line is \dfrac{3}{5}.
