Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor would drive the United States out of isolation and into World War II, a conflict that would end with Japan's surrender after the devastating atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.

Although the devastating attack on pearl harbor, preformed by the Japanese, directly caused and led to the civil war, WWII, it also caused an up-bringing in the mass patriotic actions and gathering of the American citizens. This is significant to how Americans deal and handle current and future attacks, (such as attacks brought by terrorism). All in all, the Pearl Harbor attack led to the mass up-bringing of patriotism and togetherness of the United States citizens.

As part of Andrew Jackson's Indian removal policy, in 1838 through 1839, the Cherokee were forced to gave up their lands and to migrate to another area, which is located in the modern day Oklahoma. The migration had devastating effects on the people and more than 4000 of them died.
