ndrea palladio commissioned by the venetian senate in 1576-1592 in fulfillment of a vow made on the deliverance of the city from the devastating plague of 1575-1576.
The full name of the church is Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore which basically means <span>Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in English. The church was built after the city suffered hugely from the plague since around 30% of the population died in it, around 46 000 people. Since then, the church has been home to numerous works of art and is a common place for tourists to visit.</span>
