During the American Industrial Revolution, the North started heavily developing factories and manufacturing, whereas the South stayed largely agricultural. The North took the raw materials from the South and turned them into products such as textiles. This created new massive industries in the North, for example, textiles, and an equally massive demand for these products. Where there's a demand, there are more jobs to fill. These industries created a dramatic increase in job opportunities within the North, which attracted migrants and impoverished people that didn't have a proper education or the social standing to get a better job. These people worked in said factories, creating small diasporas of people throughout the North. Emerging immigrant diasporas including Irish and German people created more diversity and also led to racism within the North. Overall, the north faced the most economic and societal changes due to the Industrial Revolution
