In this discussion, you will demonstrate your understanding of syntax in writing. you will explain your understanding of its eff

ect in writing and how you might use it in your own writing.
let's read khianna's post.

syntax means "the way you use words in sentences." one example is when jean says, "part of me wanted to laugh at the thought of lin nai-nai maybe meeting dr. carhart, our minister, whose face would surely puff up, the way it always did when he was flustered." this wording reflects the humor in jean's thinking. syntax can affect meaning by giving the words used an added edge. i can use syntax by being much more careful about how i construct sentences.

create one post for the following prompt:

in this lesson, you learned about syntax. define syntax in your own words, and give an example from the reading. explain how syntax can affect meaning. as a writer, how can you use syntax to make your writing more effective?

create two posts in response to the prompt:

after you complete your post, read the posts of your classmates. respond to at least two with your thoughts, ideas, and concerns.

revise your post:

finally, read the responses you have received, and think critically about your classmates' ideas and how they compare to your own. use this feedback to revise your original post.

use the discussion rubric to find out how you will be graded.

Answer:

Syntax affects writing since it allows you to write/speak with more clarity as you form your sentences. Some words flow better than others, so modifying syntax will help you get your point across to the reader in a more simple way. It will especially help you get points across with an established tone. This could be by using better wording or moving words around so that it's easier to read and understand.

Which of the following does not correctly describe rhetoric
devlian [24]
It does not adress the content of what is said but the way it's presented. Therefore also applies to rhetoric since whenever you say anything to promote anything you use rhetoric so that the listener would become interested in whatever it is you are trying to promote

ludmilkaskok [199]

Answer:

2. The shops were not closed last Saturday by them.

3. The dog is walked by Mike everyday.

4. Every competition is won by Michael.

5. New things were invented years ago by people.

6. The breakfast is prepared by my mother everyday.

8. His money was kept in a safe place by him for a long time.

9. News shoes are bought by my brother every year.

10. Delicious candies were sold by Mark in his store.

Explanation:

The use of the "by" agent in sentence construction is also known as the passive voice of sentence writing. The passive voice is a grammatical voice construction where the person or thing on which the action/ verb is acted on comes first in the sentence. An active voice starts the sentence with the doer of the action while the passive voice starts the sentence with the receiver of the action. And in the passive voice, the subject-verb agreement will be according to the tense of the original sentence.

Thus, the new sentences with the "by" agent are as follows-

1. Linda is taken to school everyday by him.

2. The shops were not closed last Saturday by them.

3. The dog is walked by Mike everyday.

4. Every competition is won by Michael.

5. New things were invented years ago by people.

6. The breakfast is prepared by my mother everyday.

7. School uniforms were not worn by us in this school.

8. His money was kept in a safe place by him for a long time.

9. News shoes are bought by my brother every year.

10. Delicious candies were sold by Mark in his store.
