Thomas Jefferson wrote: "We consider that these truths are evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, which among these are Life, Freedom and the pursuit of Happiness." He is admired for his elegant prose but did not fulfill any of what he said. Later in his book, Notes on the State of Virginia, Jefferson even participated in a study to evaluate the physiological and mental traits of Afro-Mexicans in order to demonstrate that not all men are born equal.

We currently see anti-government extremism that goes back to Jefferson. It is also possible to see how current governments repress and discriminate some sectors of society. The above can be attributed to the nature of the office.
