The Maya organized themselves into small city-states instead of one big empire. The largest was Tikal, which by 750 CE, had about 40,000 inhabitants. Tikal's residents had specialized occupations and were ruled by elites. The city-states fought each other frequently. The main goal was to capture their enemies and sacrifice them to the Mayan gods.

De Soto's  travels through Georgia left a bad taste between Europeans and native Americans. He was known to use harsh methods to get the cooperation of the native Americans in the area. Chief kingdoms that were once powerful slowly dissolved because de Soto brought with him diseases that native Americans were not immuned to. These diseases slowly killed de Soto's men and also the natives in Georgia.

What is the Senate’s only defense to a filibuster?

In overcoming a filibuster, the senate invokes a cloture. Cloture is the only method or procedure by which the senate can vote to place a time limit on consideration over a matter or specially of a bill thereby overcoming a filibuster. The said procedure begins with the filing for cloture duly signed by 16 Senators. It is a two-step process. The vote on cloture happens in two days after the petition is filed. It is considered successful if approved by three-fifths of the full senate.
