Three differences and one similarity between Shakespeare world and our own

English

Three differences between Shakespeare's world and ours is that the opportunities available to women, and people of colour are not as common in his stories. In his world, the only form of entertainment was live performance, as opposed to ours, where we have recordings. One similarity is our delighting in mischief and mystery -- we, as humans, are still the same, and care for our families, our finances, and our interests because while the situations and contexts of Shakespeare's time are gone, our humanity is the same.

It sounds like Fredrick Douglass was pointing out that slave masters didn't want their slaves to have knowledge such as reading and writing, let alone knowing their own ages and such.

Most slave masters wanted this so that they could feel superior over blacks, and they didn't want the slaves to be equal with them.

Reading critically involves reading to criticize reading many texts questioning a text talking about interests
alexandr1967 [171]

Reading critically involves questioning a text.

<u>To read a text critically means to engage in an active way of reading</u>, that is, to read in a deeper way. Reading critically is more than just getting what the text is about.<u> It is about analyzing and evaluating the information that is being presented in order not to become a 'passive reader'</u>, a reader that takes the information that receives without questioning it.<u> Critical reading is important for the reader to build his/her own viewpoint about a specific topic</u>.
