Here we have an inequality in terms of x, with x on both sides. However, we can treat it as a straightforward equation in as much as we can use our standard operations as long as we do the same to both sides. Here, as we want to get all the terms with x on the same side, and everything else on the other (as we are solving an inequality in terms of x after all), we can subtract 2x from both sides, and subtract 6 from sides. This leaves us the new inequality (which means the same) of 5x>-5. We can simplify this further by dividing each side by 5, leaving x>-1, which is our final answer. We can show this on a graph also, if asked, like so...

7x+6>1+2x

subtract 2x from each side:

5x+6>1

subtract 6 from each side:

5x>-5

divide each side by 5:

x>-5/5

x>-1

Write the largest expression from number 14 in standard form
MaRussiya [10]

Expressing a number in standard form refers to the generally accepted format of expressing numbers in their ordinary form.

Large numbers written in scientific notation can be converted to standard form by writing out the numbers in full instead of raising to the power of 10.

For instance, the number 4.325 × 10³ written in scientific notation can be expressed in standard form thus :

  • 4.325 × 10³
  • 10³ = (10 × 10 × 10)
  • 4.325 × (10 × 10 × 10) = 4.325 × 1000 = 4325

Therefore, 4.325 × 10³ is 4325 in standard form
