On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm, and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the Redcoat column.
1. Squealer: Insincerity. Squealer lies and manipulates the animals continuously throughout the novel into supporting the pigs rule.
2. Napoleon: Intimidation. Napoleon uses intimidation through is large size and eventually his own attack dogs to intimidate the animals of the farm into following him and only him.
3. Boxer: Patriotism. Boxer is not clever and blindly follows Napoleon for the sake of Animal Farm, repeating the same patriotic phrases no matter what.
4. Snowball: Idealism. Snowball is an idealist because he truly believes in the revolution and a greater good for the animals.
