Sulfur is a yellowish solid element (this is important to know)

to determine the element most like sulfur on the periodic table, you look at the elements next to sulfur, which would be Oxygen, Phosphorus, Chlorine, and Selenium

now, elemental oxygen and chlorine both come in the form of gases, which is denoted by the "white" letter (Hg - mercury comes in the form of a liquid fyi)

so Oxygen and Chlorine are not the correct answer since a gas is different from a solid

Calcium is nowhere near Sulfur, so through process of elimination, the best answer would be Phosphorus

Which of the following correctly represents the radioactive decay of cesium-137?
Lelu [443]
The decay mode of cesium-137 is beta decay. This means that the cesium-137 decays into a beta particle and a nuclide with the same mass number, but with a charge number that is 1 more than that of cesium.

Therefore, this means Cs-137 decays into an electron and Barium-137, meaning the answer is choice 1.

Calculate the minimum mass of ammonia needed to produce 396 kg of ammonium sulfate, (NH4)2SO4, and excess sulfuric acid.
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

Mass =  101891.2 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of ammonia needed = ?

Mass of ammonium sulfate produced = 396 Kg = 396 ×1000 = 396000 g

Solution:

Chemical equation:

2NH₃ + H₂SO₄      →      (NH₄)₂SO₄

Number of moles of  (NH₄)₂SO₄:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 396000 g / 132.14 g/mol

Number of moles = 2996.8 mol

Now we will compare the moles of ammonia and ammonium sulfate

               (NH₄)₂SO₄          :        NH₃

                      1                   :         2

                  2996.8            :        2/1×2996.8 = 5993.6 mol

Mass of ammonia needed:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 5993.6 mol × 17 g/mol

Mass =  101891.2 g

Matthew was working with different concentrations of hydrochloric acid in the lab. Which of these would BEST describe the result
CaHeK987 [17]
The question says,'Mathew was working with different concentrations of hydrochloric acid in the lab. Which of these would best describe the resulsts Mathew would see if he was using a conductivity apparatus in each of the different acid concentration. The correct answer is C. This is because, acids conduct electricity, the stronger the acid, the brighter the electricity that will be produced while the weaker the acid, the weaker the electricity that will be produced. Thus, higher concentration equals tronger electricity.

Which part of the mantle is still a solid but flows like a thick, heavy liquid?
marusya05 [52]

Hello!

Your answer is A, asthenosphere

The asthenosphere is a part of the mantle. It helps move the plates in the Earth.

It is below the lithosphere, between 80 and 200 km below the surface.

Therfore, the asthenosphere is the part of the mantle that is still a solid but flows like a thick, heavy liquid.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day!
