5. Summarize the way in which the narrator builds suspense about her wages in paragraphs

English
1 answer:
navik [9.2K]4 years ago
3 0

Answer:

The narrator creates suspense by showing how indifferent her bosses seem to pay her wages, while she was anxiously waiting to receive her money.

Explanation:

In "America and I" the author tells her story when she leaves Russia for America in search of freedom and better economic conditions. In paragraph 19-33, the author shows how happy she was for the first payday he got for his first job in America.

The author tells how she is highly anxious and made several plans about what she would do with the money, but as time went by, her bosses seemed totally indifferent and did not make any payments, which makes the author even more anxious and leaves a suspense in the narrative, because the reader begins to realize that something wrong is happening, but does not know what it is.

Well, when Shaun approaches the lip of that half-pipe or jump, he stomps his feet down into the board (the action), which causes
zavuch27 [327]

The action is the moment Shaun's feet push off the ground as momentum for the jump.

Why is this the moment of action?

 • The action is the beginning of an activity that causes the presentation of a reaction.
 • In this case, when someone needs to make a jump, the feet must push the ground, giving impulse to make the jump.
 • The floor, in turn, will push the person's feet, as a way of responding to the movement made earlier.

The act of pushing the feet against the ground is the action, as it causes the moment in which the ground pushes the feet of an individual upwards, giving strength to perform the jump.

Read the second stanza from the poem "Sympathy."
frozen [14]

In the second stanza of the poem "Sympathy," what can be inferred about the caged bird beating its wings is that "The bird would rather fly free."

 • Hence, the line from the second stanza in the poem that best supports the answer in Part A is "For he must fly back to his perch and cling."
 • This is because the poem is talking about how a bird that has been caged is trying to fly from the cage.
 • However, because the cage is locked, the bird is only trying to fly to the extent that its wings have drawn blood on the bars of the cage.
 • Also, this poem revealed that the bird wants to fly free, so it can go back to its perch, nest, or tree branch.

Hence, in this case, the correct answer for question 1 is option D "The bird would rather fly free." And the question 2 answer is option C. "For he must fly back to his perch and cling."
