20 books per box and x number of boxes.

To write an equation you have to figure out what variable you are solving for, which is x. Then you see what x is, which is the number of boxes. Finally you figure out what it takes from the given no. to get to the answer, x.

y = no. of books

x = y/20

Answer:

1. 7/41

2. 7/15

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Probability that it is a multiple of 6 given that it is a 2 digit number: There are 7 numbers that are a multiple of 6 and are 2 digits: 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, and 48. There are 41 numbers that are 2 digits. So, it is 7/41

2. Probability that it is at least 20 given that it is prime. Out of the prime numbers from 1-50, 7 of them are at least 20 and there are 15 primes in that range in total. So, it is 7/15

What is a reason that we need to be able to use the quadratic formula rather than solving all quadratic equations by graphing?
MArishka [77]

Here are some examples of how the Quadratic Formula works:

Solve x2 + 3x – 4 = 0

This quadratic happens to factor:

x2 + 3x – 4 = (x + 4)(x – 1) = 0

.

Then, as expected, the solution is x = –4, x = 1.
