ok so, atlas was sent to eternal struggle and was sentenced to carry the world on his shoulders forever. this is because he was a titan who was banished away when zeus came with the new era of gods. atlas tried to trick hercules into giving him his work and so hercules fell for the trap, but then tricked atlas by asking him to hold the earth for a little to prop a pillow or something soft in preperation for the eternal struggle leaving him to hold the earth
