In the book, the monster shows yellowish skin, long black hair, large irregular teeth protruding forward and standing very tall. In the films, however, the monster is usually portrayed as a green creature, without intelligence, with a very square face and screws on the sides of the face.

The representation of the monster in the films is more childlike and portrays a popular impression about a monster created by human hands, however, the presentation of the appearance of the monster in the book, presents itself in a more consistent, less comical and more real way.
