\dfrac{x-2}3 +\dfrac 16 = \dfrac 56 \\\\\implies  \dfrac{x-2}3 = \dfrac 56 - \dfrac 16\\\\\implies \dfrac{x-2}3= \dfrac  46\\ \\\implies \dfrac{x-2}3 = \dfrac 23\\\\\implies x -2=2\\\\\implies x =2+2 = 4\\\\\text{Hence, the value of x is 4.}

Heather is considering purchasing an item that costs $17. The sales tax in Heather's area is set at 7.5%. What is the total purc
bija089 [108]

Answer:

$18.28

Step-by-step explanation:

To get the answer all I did was take 7.5% of 17 which is 1.275

I then rounded 1.275 to 1.28. When you round up the number after the 7 has to be 5 or above. Seeing as the number was 5 we rounded it up to 1.28.

Then I took $17+$1.28= $18.28.

I hope this helps!!!

use the quadratic formula to find the zeros of the function round to the tense of necessary y= 17x^2-21
Kitty [74]
y=17x^2-21\\\\\text{The zeros of the function:}\ y=0\iff17x^2-21=0\ \ \ |+21\\\\17x^2=21\ \ \ |:17\\\\x^2=\dfrac{21}{17}\to x=\pm\sqrt{\dfrax{21}{17}}\\\\x\approx-1.1\ \vee\ x\approx1.1

\text{Use the quadratic formula:}\\\\y=17x^2-21\\\\a=17;\ b=0;\ c=-21\\\\b^2-4ac=0^2-4\cdot17\cdot(-21)=1428\\\\x_1=\dfrac{-b-\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a};\ x_2=\dfrac{-b+\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\\\\x_1=\dfrac{-0-\sqrt{1428}}{2\cdot17}=-\dfrac{\sqrt{1428}}{34}\approx-1.1\\\\x_2=\dfrac{-0+\sqrt{1428}}{2\cdot17}=\dfrac{\sqrt{1428}}{34}\approx1.1

Sveta_85 [38]

Answer:

Question 675528: A ball is thrown vertically upward with an initial velocity of 48 feet per second. If the ball started its flight at a height of 8 feet, then its height s at time t can be determined by s(t)=-16t^2+48t+8 where s(t) is measured in feet above the ground and t is the number of seconds of flight.
