Nikita performed an experiment in which she randomly pulled a marble from a bag, recorded its color, placed it back in the bag,

and then repeated. The results are shown in the following table.
Result Frequency
Red 20
Purple 24
Blue 12

Based on the experiment, what is the probability of drawing a blue marble?

Seth traveled 1 mile in 57.1 seconds. About how fast does Seth travel in mph?
Sauron [17]
Considering that Seth travels with constant speed v=dtv=dt, then v=157.1=x3600v=157.1=x3600 where xx is the distance traveled in 1 hour. So his velocity would be x miles/hour. By computing x=3600⋅157.1=63.047x=3600⋅157.1=63.047, thus Seth travels at a speed of 63.047miles/hour63.047miles/hour

Find the 11th term of the arithmetic sequence.
a3 = 20.5 and a8 = 13, a11 = ______. ...?
lianna [129]
In order to solve for a nth term in an arithmetic sequence, we use the formula written as:

an = a1 + (n-1)d

where an is the nth term, a1 is the first value in the sequence, n is the term position and d is the common difference.

First, we need to calculate for d from the given values above.
a3 = 20.5 and a8 = 13

an = a1 + (n-1)d
20.5 = a1 + (3-1)d

an = a1 + (n-1)d
13 = a1 + (8-1)d

a1 = 23.5
d = -1.5

The 11th term is calculated as follows:

a11 = a1 + (n-1)d
a11= 23.5 + (11-1)(-1.5)
a11 = 8.5

What is the geometric mean of 8 and 10?
nekit [7.7K]
If the smaller number is x, then the larger number has to be 20 - x in order for the arithmetic mean to be 10, as their sum must be 20.

If the geometric mean is 8 the product of the numbers has to be 64 and so the larger number is 64/x

Solving 64/x = 20 - x gives the quadratic x^2 -20x +64 = 0 so x = 4 or 16.

The two numbers are 4 and 16.

-12x + 18y = 21
(6x -9 = -9
Leokris [45]

Answer:

x = 0 , y = 7/6

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve the following system:

{18 y - 12 x = 21

6 x - 9 = -9

In the second equation, look to solve for x:

{18 y - 12 x = 21

6 x - 9 = -9

Add 9 to both sides:

{18 y - 12 x = 21

6 x = 0

Divide both sides by 6:

{18 y - 12 x = 21

x = 0

Substitute x = 0 into the first equation:

{18 y = 21

x = 0

In the first equation, look to solve for y:

{18 y = 21

x = 0

Divide both sides by 18:

{y = 7/6

x = 0

Collect results in alphabetical order:

Answer: {x = 0 , y = 7/6
