Answer:

Plane B is closer.

Step-by-step explanation:

Plane B is closer.

The distance for Plane A is 7.9 km.

The distance for Plane B is 7.4 km.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the distance to the tower, altitude must be converted to kilometers. Each 1000 ft is 0.3048 km, so the heights of the planes are ...

-- Plane A: (20 thousand ft)*(0.3048 km/thousand ft) = 6.096 km

-- Plane B: (8 thousand ft)*(0.3048 km/thousand ft) = 2.4384 km

The Pythagorean theorem can be used to find the distance from each plane to the tower:

-- distance = √((ground distance)² + (height)²)

-- Plane A distance = √(5² +6.096²) ≈ √62.16 ≈ 7.9 . . . km

-- Plane B distance = √(7² +2.4384²) ≈ √54.95 ≈ 7.4 . . . km

The distance for Plane B is shorter, so Plane B is closer to the tower.

In the circle, AB=42,BC=18, and CD=4. The diagram is not drawn to scale.
Monica [59]
The picture in the attached figure

we know that
The Intersecting Secants Theorem, states that
''If two secant segments are drawn to a circle from an exterior point, then the product of the measures of one secant segment and its external secant segment is equal to the product of the measures of the other secant segment and its external secant segment''
so
in this problem
(x+DC)*DC=(AB+BC)*BC
AB=42
BC=18
CD=4
(x+4)*4=(42+18)*18
4x+16=1080
4x=1080-16
x=1064/4
x=266

the answer is
x=266

Jen picked 3/4 of a gallon of strawberries in half an hour. If she keeps picking strawberries at the same rate, how many gallons
scoray [572]
Well following the directions you have provided me I would say that Jen will have 3 Gallons of strawberries. Work: So the fraction 3/4 can be converted into decimals which is .75 and since she got that many in half and hour ( 30 minutes) we can do two set of .75 for each hour, after we do the math we end up with 4 sets in total of .75 since she had 2 hours to work. Equation .75*4=3

I hope this helped you out!
