The Qing Dynasty that ruled over China for a long period of time produced some great Emperors and Empresses.
One such was Emperor Guangxu who tried to bring the regime out of the clutches of its orthodox beliefs and attempted to modernize the way the government worked and the way the economy functioned.
This move of Emperor Guangxu was not liked by Empress Cixi under whose care Guangxu was looking after the administration of the empire.
Emperor Guangxu's resistance to change his decision made Empress Cixi order the royal army to arrest him.
