Rachel has a toy shaped like a triangular pyramid in which the base and the lateral faces are congruent equilateral triangles. T

he side lengths of the triangles are 4 inches. The height of each triangle is about 3.5 inches. Rachel wants to cover all the lateral surfaces except for the base with yellow paper. The amount of paper required to cover the lateral surfaces is about square inches. If she wants to cover the entire pyramid with yellow paper, she would require about more square inches of paper.

The lateral area that Rachel needs to cover is 21 inches squared. You find this by first finding the area of one triangular side. To do this, you must half the base of one side, so it makes 2, and multiply it by the height, which gets you to 7. Then, you must half this, as the formula for the area of a triangle states, and then multiply this by two as you at first found the area of only HALF the triangle. This should still get you to 7. Now, there are three lateral sides, not including the base, so you must multiply 7 by 3. This gets you 21.
Hope this helps! But if you have any more questions feel free to ask :)

The wall is 12 feet long. They are placing studs every 18 inches. If there are studs on each end of the wall, how many studs wil
Oliga [24]

Answer:

9

Step-by-step explanation:

1 feet is 12 inches, so 12 feet is 12 * 12 = 144 inches.

If studs are placed 18 inches apart, in 144 inches, there will be:

\frac{144}{18}=8

But remember, there is a stud at the very beginning (at 0 feet).

So in total there are going to be 9 studs

Alanna is painting a border on a wall. The border consists of kite-shaped figures as shown. mc022-1.jpg Each kite measures 6 inc
Sedaia [141]

the question does not present the picture, but this does not interfere with the resolution

step 1

Find the area of a kite

we know that

area of a kite=(1/2)*[d1*d2]

where d1 and d2 are the diagonals

so

area of a kite=(1/2)*[6*12]-----> 36 in²

The wall is 12 feet across-----> convert to in-----> 12*12----> 144 in

step 2
find the number of kite to paint
divide across of the wall to across of a kite
144/6-----> 24

step 3
find the number of square inches of the wall to be covered with comets
24*area of one kite-----> 24*36-----> 864 in²

the answer is 864 in²
Note For this calculation, as there is no drawing we have assumed that the diagonal of the 6-inch kite is horizontal

case b)
If the diagonal of the 12-inch kite was horizontal, then the calculation would be
step 2
find the number of kite to paint
divide across of the wall to across of a kite
144/12-----> 12

step 3
find the number of square inches of the wall to be covered with comets
12*area of one kite-----> 12*36-----> 432 in²

the answer would be 432 in²
