\left( -5\right)^{-3}  =-\frac{1}{125}

Step-by-step explanation:

Please help!<br>what polynomial must be added to <br>−5x^3 + 4x − 3 so that the sum is x^2 − x − 1?
lakkis [162]
<h3><u>Solution:- </u></h3>

Let the number to be added be A

Now,

\begin{gathered}\implies\quad \sf −5x^3 + 4x − 3  + A = x^2 − x − 1 \\\end{gathered}

Transposing (−5x³+ 4x − 3 ) to other side-

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = x^2 − x − 1 -( −5x^3 + 4x − 3) \\\end{gathered}

Remember if there is a -ve sign before a bracket the signs of whole of the terms changes on opening bracket

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = x^2 − x − 1 + 5x^3 - 4x + 3\\\end{gathered}

Putting like terms together -

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = 5x^3 +x^2 - x -4x +3 -1  \\\end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\\implies\quad \sf   A = 5x^3 +x^2 -5x +2 \\\end{gathered}

\longrightarrowTherefore, 5x³+x²-5x +2 should be added to −5x³+ 4x − 3 to get x²− x − 1

The legs of an isosceles right triangle are 11 cm long. Find the length of the hypotenuse. Round to the nearest tenth if necessa
lukranit [14]
 <span>If there is a hypotenuse, the triangle is a right triangle. From the Pythagorean Theorem:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 [the square of the hypotenuse is the sum of the squares of the other two sides]

c^2 = 11^2 + 11^2 = 121 + 121 = 242

c = sqrt(242) = 15.56 cm (rounded)</span>

What is the solution to the equation x + 4.5 = 20.5? 4.6 8 12 16
disa [49]
We don't have to try each number. We can just solve it ourselves then pick the answer. We need x by itself, so we need to subtract 4.5 from both sides.
x+4.5=20.5
x=16
The solution of the equation would be 16.
