During this time period dichlorodiphenultrichloroethane or DDT was used as a formed of pesticide. While this lead to the death of many malaria-carrying mosquitoes since peregrine falcons were at the top of the food chain they got infected by eating other birds who had fed from seeds or fish who were contaminaded with DDT.</span>
