I assume you meant "spice" trade, as humanity wasn't in space until the later 1900's and we have yet to conduct space based international trade.
A lot can change in a 100 years, the most obvious of which being who controlled the spice and how it was transported. At first it was brought to Europe by the Silk Road, but that ended in the 1300's. So after that point, it was based in nautical transport. An important thing to note is that after a revolution and a war or two later, the British no longer has the most powerful Navy on Earth, so the British no longer controlled the spice trade.
