Answer:

CB = sqrt  (4a^2 + 6b^2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Using distance formula

d^2  = ( x1-x2)^2   +  (y1-y2)^2

d^2 = (3a - -a)^2    +  (b - -5b )^2

d^2 = (4a)^2      +      (6b)^2

Answer: CB = \sqrt{16a^2 + 36b^2}\\\\

Work Shown:

d = \sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2 + (y_2-y_1)^2}\\\\CB = \sqrt{(3a-(-a))^2 + (b-(-5b))^2}\\\\CB = \sqrt{(3a+a)^2 + (b+5b)^2}\\\\CB = \sqrt{(4a)^2 + (6b)^2}\\\\CB = \sqrt{16a^2 + 36b^2}\\\\

If that doesn't work, then your teacher may only want the stuff in the green box. So that would be either b-(-5b), or b+5b, or 6b

Part A: Eveline rented a car at $180 for 4 days. If she rents the same car for 9 days, she has to pay a total rent of $325.
erastova [34]
Y=mx+b

m=(325-180)/(9-4)

m=145/5

m=29

y=29x+b, using point (4,180) we can solve for b

180=29(4)+b

180=116+b

64=b, so the line is:

y=29x+64

Now the standard form of a line is ax+by=c so:

-29x+y=64  (by convention the coefficient of x should be positive so)

29x-y=-64

...

We can use the point-slope form we found earlier...

f(x)=29x+64

...

This is just a line so you can use any two points to graph it.

Connect (1,93) to (2,122) and extend upward and to the right as far as you please.  The x-axis should be labeled "days" and the y-axis as "dollars".
