Mendelian genetics includes some laws which are law of dominance, law of segregation and law of independent assortment. The law followed by the corn for inheritance is law of segregation.

<h3>What are law of inheritance?</h3>

Law of inheritance was given by Gregor Mendel, who is known as father of genetics.

The experiment was done on pea plant. Based on this experiment Mendel stated three laws. These are:

  1. Law of Dominance: according to this law only dominant traits will be inherited in the offspring.
  2. Law of Segregation: according to this law, two copies of each hereditary factor segregate which results in acquiring one factor from each parent by offspring.
  3. Law of Independent Assortment: according to this law,  pair of trait segregates independent of another pair during formation of gametes.

Each kernel of corn on a single ear can inherit a different set of alleles from those inherited by other kernels. This is law of segregation.

Thus, the correct option is C.

Imagine that smurfs live in widely separated groups and rarely interbreed, so geneticists know very little about them. On one oc
Keith_Richards [23]

Hello! Your answer is A, blue is dominant to white.

A dominant gene means that it is always expressed if present, no matter what other genes there are. For example, if there is a dominant blue gene, and a recessive red gene, blue will be expressed.

In this case, we see that all three children are blue. This shows that blue is most likely dominant, and white is recessive.

Let's approach the other case, that white is dominant to blue. If white is dominant, then the blue smurf must have two blue recessive traits, and the white smurf would either have two white dominant traits, or one white and one blue trait. The only possible way the children can have a blue color is if the white smurf is heterozygous (meaning it has two different genes, in this case one blue and one white), and passes down the recessive gene three times. As you can see, this is very unlikely.

If white and blue are codominant, then the children would have a mixture of the two genes. (Most likely). This is not the case.

Therefore, your answer is A.

Hope this helps!

Why is protein synthesis important when we talk about genetic variation?
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

Protein synthesis is the process all cells use to make proteins, which are responsible for all cell structure and function. In transcription, DNA is copied to mRNA, which is used as a template for the instructions to make protein. In the second step, translation, the mRNA is read by a ribosome. The key to a protein molecule is how the amino acids are linked. The sequence of amino acids in a protein is a type of code that specifies the protein and distinguishes one protein from another. A genetic code in the DNA determines this amino acid code.

What are 2 reasons of why birds die out on the Easter island?
SOVA2 [1]

Answer:

How did the extinction of the birds affect Easter Island?

Consequently, the consumption of land birds, migratory birds, and mollusks increased. Soon land birds went extinct and migratory bird numbers were severely reduced, thus spelling an end for Easter Island's forests.

Have a good day!
