Since the end of WW2 Ukraine has been under Russian control. The Union of  Soviet  Socialist Republics  ( U.S.S.R) wanted to create a group of communist friendly countries around them following the end of the second world war.  Now, Russia has still kept controll over ukrane and the citizens want to be independant. However, despite their attemps Russia is keeping a strong hold on the territory.
