The overall purpose of Twain in the use of satire is to show how the nation has fallen short of its morals and to also criticize the behavior of the people.

This is the use of elements of humor and irony in  writings and speeches. Using Humor, Twain exposed the vices of the people and the way that things had gone wrong.

It is also the use of ridicule and exaggeration in the writings of poets.
