The Paris Climate Accord was signed by nearly 200 countries in 2016. Its goal is to limit global warming by reducing <u>carbon emissions</u>. In 2019, <u>the United States</u> left the agreement but returned in 2021.

<h3>What is the Paris Climate Accord?</h3>

The Paris Climate Accord is a global effort that sets out a framework to limit the damages caused by dangerous climate change.

The Accord limited global warming to below 2°C while making efforts to further reduce the global warming limit to 1.5°C.

The Accord tries to strengthen countries' abilities to deal with the impacts of climate change.  It suffered a heavy blow when the United States abandoned it in 2019 but returned two years after.
