Biology

The statement that best explains why each river has its own set of characteristics is that Rivers interact with the ecosystems through which they pass.

Some of the characteristics of rivers that we can mention are :

 • Width
 • Length
 • pH value
 • mineral composition
 • aquatic life

and many more.

As rivers flow downhill towards the larger body of water to which they will combine, It interacts with the environment and all that it contains. The water that flows through the soil will erode the land and absorb the minerals in the soil. This will affect the pH of the river and in turn, change the diversity of aquatic life present in the river. The length and width of the rIver can also depend on the limiting factors of the ecosystem through which it passes. Since every river pertains to its ecosystem, each will have it's own characteristics.

A farmer decides to go into the business of raising trout for tourists who enjoy fishing. She builds six trout ponds and stocks
Nastasia [14]

Yes the following statements about her trout is likely true Because the ponds are different and the populations are likely to experience different mutations, the populations will likely diverge evolutionarily, but only over many generations.

Explanation:

The effect of genetic drift can be seen in all populations but the most is seen in small population. The change in allele frequency due to the sampling error would lead to evolution of the species.

Bottleneck effect is when a population gets reduced due to some natural disaster. Her friends were not right about bottleneck effect.

So it is clear that no bottleneck effect will occur as each pond have different chance or rate of mutation and the change in alleles will be different. The trouts will evolve independently in the different ponds and pass on the traits to their progeny.

Genetic drift does not take into account for the harm or benefit of the alleles that are passed on.

When a plant produces sugars and transports them during translocation, which main plant tissues are at work?
Leviafan [203]
The answer to the question stated above is letter D. Vascular and Ground. Vascular tissue comprises the xylem and phloem tissues. Xylem tissue transports water and nutrients from the roots to different parts of the plant while phloem tissue transports organic compounds (sugars and nutrients manufactured in the shoot) from the site of photosynthesis to other parts of the plant.

The release of one phosphate group from ATP powers the reactants in the cell which phosphate is the one that is released from AT
kolezko [41]

Answer:

ADP

Explanation:

Your question: The release of one phosphate group from ATP powers the reactants in the cell which phosphate is the one that is released from ATP

My answer: ADP

Why is my answer correct?

If a cell needs to spend energy to accomplish a task, the ATP molecule splits off one of its three phosphates, becoming ADP (Adenosine di-phosphate) + phosphate. The energy holding that phosphate molecule is now released and available to do work for the cell.

Hope this helps! :)

In the example of the finches on the Galapagos, what is the cause of the geographic isolation?
Firlakuza [10]
The Galapagos Islands are geographically isolated due to the Ocean that surrounds the islands themselves. The finches can't fly far enough to make it past the vast ocean to other mainland so they are stuck on the island and must adapt to what the island provides for food in varying areas.
