The author's hook regarding Japan in the 19th century engages the reader by making the reader wonder how the quotation from the poem relates to the topic of the passage.

What happened in Japan in the 19th century?

Japan was not as developed in the 19th century as it is today. Many socio-economic reforms took place in Japan. End of feudal system and kingship were some prolific events during this period.

The author also tells about how the Industrial Revolution struck the Japanese society, and how it won wars from alien enemies and other neighboring countries.

Hence, option B; author's hook regarding Japan in the 19th century engages the readers by making them wonder how the quotation from the poem relates to the topic of the passage.

DaniilM [7]

America’s first political parties emerged in the late 1790s. The Democratic-Republicans were led by Thomas Jefferson. The Federalists were led by George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and John Adams.

The Democratic-Republican Party or the Anti-Administration party (Anti-Federalists) opposed the strong central government that the Constitution established when it went into effect in 1789, and the Federalist Party supported the ratification of the American Constitution. These two parties made up the first two-party system. The conflict over the passage of the federal Constitution of 1787 saw the formation of the first political parties or factions. George Washington served as a uniting force of political parties throughout the first eight years of the country's existence. But after his retirement, the country was divided into two ideologically opposed factions that were soon referred to as the Federalists and Republicans, the country's first two America's political parties.

Who constituted "the people" according to political arrangements americas made during the war of independence?
77julia77 [94]
"The people" were originally White, Property-owning Males over 21. They were the only ones that could originally vote. The property owning portion will almost completely be gone by 1828 (this is what helped Andrew Jackson get elected). Non white men will begin being able to vote with the passing of the 15th Amendment after the Civil War. Women will earn suffrage (right to vote) in 1920 with the 19th Amendment. Lastly, we'll lower the voting age to 18 in 1971 with the 26th Amendment, due to the Vietnam War.

Both local and federal officials were unwilling to enforce legal decisions that outlawed segregation how did the students try to
valina [46]

Answer:

During this period, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights was responsible in the successful drive for passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957. They followed up and continued to press for a stronger legislation.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)Youth Council chapters organized sit-ins at whites-only lunch counters thereby sparking a movement against segregation in public accommodations throughout the South in 1960. Nonviolent direct action also increased beginning with the 1961 Freedom Rides.

This led President Kennedy to send a comprehensive civil rights bill to the Congress shortly before his assassination. The bill was later signed by his successor President Johnson in 1964.
