People often holds different views. Chinampas are no longer used in the world today simply because they require intensive labor is a true statement.

What happened to the use of chinampas?

The use of Chinampas is known to be of little use in the world today.

Due to the breakdown of dams and sluice gates in the Spanish conquest of Mexico, a lot of chinampas fields were said to be left for waste or abandoned.

Some lakeshore towns did retained their chinampas but due to the fact that its cultivation was known to be highly labor-intensive and less attractive for Spaniards, its use reduces.
