Answer:

l(\overline {AB})\approx9.22\: units

Step-by-step explanation:

  • A = (-2, -3), B = (-8, 4) (Given)

  • \implies x_1= -2,\: y_1=-3,\: x_2=-8,\: y_2= 4

  • By distance formula length of segment AB can be given as:

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2 +(y_2-y_1)^2}

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{[-8-(-2)]^2 +[4-(-3)]^2}

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{[-8+2]^2 +[4+3]^2}

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{[-6]^2 +[7]^2}

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{36 +49}

  • l(\overline {AB})=\sqrt{85}

  • l(\overline {AB})=9.21954446\: units

  • l(\overline {AB})\approx9.22\: units

Suppose that a market research firm is hired to estimate the percent of adults living in a large city who have cell phones. 500
Alborosie

Answer:

The 95% confidence interval estimate for the true proportion of adults residents of this city who have cell phones is (0.81, 0.874).

Step-by-step explanation:

In a sample with a number n of people surveyed with a probability of a success of \pi, and a confidence level of 1-\alpha, we have the following confidence interval of proportions.

\pi \pm z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}}

In which

z is the zscore that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{\alpha}{2}.

For this problem, we have that:

n = 500, \pi = \frac{421}{500} = 0.842

95% confidence level

So \alpha = 0.05, z is the value of Z that has a pvalue of 1 - \frac{0.05}{2} = 0.975, so Z = 1.96.

The lower limit of this interval is:

\pi - z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}} = 0.842 - 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.842*0.158}{500}} = 0.81

The upper limit of this interval is:

\pi + z\sqrt{\frac{\pi(1-\pi)}{n}} = 0.842 + 1.96\sqrt{\frac{0.842*0.158}{500}} = 0.874

The 95% confidence interval estimate for the true proportion of adults residents of this city who have cell phones is (0.81, 0.874).

Please check my answer : Find the equation of the line that has a slope of 8 and passes through the point (-3,4). I got y=8x-20
Paladinen [302]
The answer is y = -8x - 20. If you were to use y = 8x - 20 then you'd get 4 = -44, which, obviously, is not true. To fix it all you need to do is add a negative sign in front of the 8. y = -8x - 20.
