It can't be the option "Police officers and judges earn similar yearly wages and benefits." Because of the sentence "and a judge can expect to make more money."

In the text, there is an sentence that would trick some people into believing that it's the option, "Judges and police officers both play roles in the legal system." this is the sentence in the text "Although they are both trained to uphold the law, the role each plays in the legal system is very different." It wouldn't be it because sure it says that they play a role in it, but no where does it say they both play a role, and it's irrelevant to the question.
