slaves  - the lowest class of people in Athens,  had no rights, did manual labor

Only Athenians who were born in that city-state over the age of 18 had political rights and could participate in the decision making process. Women as we can see couldn't vote. It also applies to foreigners (metics) and slaves. Still, position of slaves in Athens was much better than position of slaves in Sparta for example.
