Answer: page 1 answers: A) the triangles are similar because two of their angles are the congruent (the 90 degree one and the one that is touching the dot)

B) 0.6 mi

please include a clearer image of page 2s diagram ty!

Step-by-step explanation:

Since I explained the answer of A) for page 1 in the answer section I will explain how I got 0.6mi.

Firstly find the scale factor between the 2 triangles. In other words, what do you need to multiply each side of the smaller triangle to get the same lengths of the bigger triangle. Since we know one side of both triangles where the side we do know measures 0.1mi and the same side but on the bigger triangle measures 0.3mi that means 0.1 times something makes 0.3.
That means the scale factor is 3 because 3 * 0.1 = 0.3. Now to get the base which is the line from D to E multiply 0.2 * 3 (0.2mi is the base of the smaller triangle and 3 is the scale factor) which is 0.6mi

Therefore the distance between D and E is 0.6mi.

Answer:

R = sqrt[(IWL)^2/(E^2 - I^2)] or R = -sqrt[(IWL)^2/(E^2 - I^2)]

Step-by-step explanation:

Squaring both sides of equation:

     I^2 = (ER)^2/(R^2 + (WL)^2)

<=>(ER)^2 = (I^2)*(R^2 + (WL)^2)

<=>(ER)^2 - (IR)^2 = (IWL)^2

<=> R^2(E^2 - I^2) = (IWL)^2

<=> R^2 = (IWL)^2/(E^2 - I^2)

<=> R = sqrt[(IWL)^2/(E^2 - I^2)] or R = -sqrt[(IWL)^2/(E^2 - I^2)]

Hope this helps!

What’s different about solving inequalities when you have to multiply or divide by a negative number? Can you explain why a spec
Sergeu [11.5K]
Alright, let's take an example. 1 is less than 2, so we can write it as 1<2. However, if we multiplied both sides by -1 without changing anything else, we get -1<-2, but -1 is greater than -2 because it is less negative, so the correct way of writing it would be -1>-2. Therefore, since a number that is less positive than another becomes less negative (and therefore higher) when both are multiplied by -1, we have to change the side of the inequality
