The graph below shows a company’s profit f(x), in dollars, depending on the price of the erasers x, in dollars, being sold by th

e company:
Part A: What do the x intercepts and maximum value of the graph represent? What are the intervals where the function is increasing and decreasing, and what do they represent about the sale and profit?

Part B: What is the approximate average rate of change of the graph from x=1 to x=4, and what does this rate represent?

The x-intercept = (0, 0) and (8, 0), Rate of function is 50 and as the price of erasers increasing the company's profit increasing and when price of the eraser decreasing the price the company's profit decreasing.

<h3>What is a function?</h3>

It is defined as a special type of relationship, and they have a predefined domain and range according to the function every value in the domain is related to exactly one value in the range.

We have a graph of a function:

From the graph:

x-intercept = (0, 0) and (8, 0)

Maximum value of the graph = 270 at x = 4

Increasing in the interval x ∈ (0, 4)

Decreasing in the interval x ∈ (4, 8)

As the price of erasers increasing the company's profit increasing and when price of the eraser decreasing the price the company's profit decreasing.

Rate of function = (270-120)/(4-1) = 50

Thus, the x-intercept = (0, 0) and (8, 0), Rate of function is 50 and as the price of erasers increasing the company's profit increasing and when price of the eraser decreasing the price the company's profit decreasing.

How do you factor 8x^2+18x+9=0
jeka57 [31]
First off, do a prime factoring of the constant and leading coefficient, namely 9 and 8 respectively.

so a prime factoring of 8 is 2*2*2, and a prime factoring of 9 is 3*3.

so, those are the factors... now, how do we produce products that gives us the middle coefficient +18?

well, let's see  hmmmm 2 * 3 * 3   and 2 * 3....so that's 18 + 6, that's 24.. .so... no good is not 18, let's try again.

2*2*3   and 2 * 3, so that's 12 + 6, now, that's +18

 so we'll use those, 2*2*3 and 2*3, or 4 * 3 an 2 * 3, (4x + 3)(2x + 3) = 0.
