All living things depend on their environment to supply them with what they need, including food, water, and shelter. Many living things interact with other organisms in their environment. After studying the case disease given in the question it can be inferred that the individual might have pneumonia caused by the bacteria  Klebsiella. This causes the damage to the lungs. The sputum shows that the bacteria is gram negative that are covered with the rods. If the bacteria is grown on the agar plate of the MacConkey, the bacteria becomes mucoid due to the production of the slime. This might cause the lung damage and causes inflammation that causes the observable changes. This is a bacterial disease.
