Ben and Landon took turns driving on a 820 mile road trip. Ben averaged 60 miles per hour and Landon averaged 56 miles per hour.
SashulF [63]

<u>Answer</u>:

See below!

<u>Explanation</u>:

  • distance = speed * time
  • speed = distance/time
  • time = distance/speed

<u>equation for distance</u>:

Lets Ben hours be x and Landon hours be y,

60x + 56y = 820 .........equation 1

<u>equation for time</u>:

\frac{60x}{60}+ \frac{56x}{56}  =14

x + y = 14 .........equation 2

Make x the subject:

60x + 56y = 820

x = (820 - 56y)/60 ..........equation 3

x + y = 14

x = 14 - y ........equation 4

Solve equation 3 and 4 simultaneously:

  • 14 - y =  (820 - 56y)/60
  • 60(14 - y) = 820 - 56y
  • 840 - 60y = 820 -56y
  • 840 - 820 = -56y + 60y
  • 20 = 4y
  • y = 5

             [ Therefore Landon drove 5 hours ]

Extra's further investigated:

if y = 5

  • x = 14 - y
  • x = 14 - 5
  • x = 9

              [ Therefore Ben drove 9 hours ]

To make the cone, melted chocolate is pumped onto a huge cold plate at a rate of 2 ft3/sec. Due to the low temperature, the choc
Julli [10]

Answer:

The height of cone is increasing at a rate 0.102 feet per second.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

\dfrac{dV}{dt} = 2\text{ cubic feet per second}

Instant height = 5 feet

The height of the cone is always equal to the diameter.

Volume of cone =

V = \dfrac{1}{3}\pi \dfrac{d^2}{4}h\\\\\text{where d is the diameter and h is the height of cone}\\\\V = \dfrac{1}{12}\pi h^3

Rate of change of volume =

\dfrac{dV}{dt} = \dfrac{d}{dt}(\dfrac{1}{12}\pi h^3)\\\\\dfrac{dV}{dt} =\dfrac{\pi}{4}h^2\dfrac{dh}{dt}

Putting all the values, we get,

2=\dfrac{\pi}{4}(5)^2\dfrac{dh}{dt}\\\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{dh}{dt} = \dfrac{8}{25\pi} =0.102

Thus, the height of cone is increasing at a rate 0.102 feet per second.

<h3>♫ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ~Hello There!~ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ♫</h3>

➷ We know this:

3/7 = 27

You need to find the value of 1/7

To do this, divide by 3

27/3 = 9

1/7 = 9

Multiply this by 7 to get the total number of balls:

9 x 7 = 63

There are 63 balls.
