Why do some experts argue that a paid, volunteer fighting force is actually not more expensive than maintaining the fighting for

ces with draftees? those who think troops are getting paid more do not understand the principal of inflation. the short enlistment periods of draftees actually cost the military more in training and turnover. the current military forces are actually getting paid less than troops of earlier generations. with more fighting troops from a draft, military engagements would be shorter and cheaper.

The reason why some experts argue for paid volunteer armies is that the short enlistment periods of draftees actually cost the military more in training and turnover.

Why is a volunteer standing army cheaper than drafting?

When drafts are done, the new recruits will have to be trained. This will cost the nation more and is therefore more expensive.

A paid volunteer army on the other hand, is already trained and so there will be no need to keep embarking on new training which makes it cheaper.

zhenek [66]

The correct answer is: "The speech convinced Americans that the USSR was an enemy, rather than an ally, which led to the creation of the Truman Doctrine".

The speech pronounced by the UK president Winston Churchill tried to condemn the URSS policies and to call to action to the other former Ally Countries in order to combat its expansion.

It gave rise to the Truman Doctrine, an US foreign policy approved in 1947 that was designed with the purpouse of limiting the expansion of URSS, during the Cold War era. It tried to spoil the Soviet objectives without direct military interventions.
