Prior to World War II, China participated in the Civil War. Nationalists (led by Chain Kai-shek) fought to keep control of the country from the Communists (led by Mao Zedong). When Japan invaded China in July 1937, both sides in the civil war agreed to a ceasefire.
However, after the end of World War II, fighting resumed. From 1945-1949, Mao's forces were supported by common Chinese citizens. Communism was gaining momentum in one of the world's largest nations

How did the government encourage the idea of Manifest Destiny?
raketka [301]
Manifest Destiny was a distinctly racist concept in the first place. The idea was that white man was destined to conquer the west and this meant subduing anyone else who happened to live there. White man alone was entitled to this "destiny". It used the ideas of Jacksonian democracy of a "white man's democracy" to develop these beliefs.

How have political activities shaped South Africa?
dsp73
The South African referendum of 1992 was held on 17 March 1992 in South Africa. In it, white South Africans were asked to vote in the country's last whites-only referendum to determine whether or not they supported the negotiated reforms begun by State President F.W. de Klerk two years earlier. The result of the election was a large victory for the "yes" side.

This political intervention lead to the democratic elections held in 1994 and the inauguration of the first democratically elected President of SA, Nelson Mandela.....think that this was significant in SA history.
